Motivation Of My Audience

I used Dyer’s Utopian Solutions Theory to motivate and engage our audience, offering our target audience the ‘solutions’ of ‘energy’ through vibrant colours and energising motivational language. This gives the consumer a sense of escapism and could encourage audiences who are suffering from exhaustion to feel energised. Giving them another reason to purchase issues of my magazine.
This can relate to 10 key words;
Inadequacy, Poverty, Confusion, Exhaustion, Isolation,
Solution, Abundance, Clarity, Energy and Community.

A film or magazine may offer energy through content which may be something like a chase scene or an exclusive/motivational article may also come through style e.g special effects or bright colours.

I also used Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as he relates to 4 key themes;
Safety - offering assurance of safety, physically, emotionally, psychologically.
Affiliation - the need to belong to a group
Esteem - our need to feel good about ourselves.

My magazine will mainly follow the point of affiliation as the consumer of the magazine will feel part of the Hip Hop community and will be welcomed in the magazine.
